I am not sure where to start, so much has evolved in the last 6 weeks, that it seems normal now. But I know you guys are still back 6 weeks ago-hehe;)
Ok, so I guess it started in Cambodia. That was a sad and very interesting place for our family. We had very high hopes and were quickly met with many conflicting emotions. It also really affected the boys. After just a few days there, Peyton and Conner started to talk about how they missed having friends that spoke English. And then talk of karate classes and baseball teams reached an all-time high, they wanted to start, like last weekend.
Jarrett and I were also on our own journey. The last few months we have been feeling ready for another baby. A baby for us is already high risk because I have high blood pressure with every pregnancy, but even more so now that we have a 25% chance of every baby having Niemann Pick Type A. What should be a peaceful, exciting thing has turned into a costly and mentally frusterating thing. But we are ready to tackle it and felt it would be best to do in America whenever it was time.
So as our time in Cambodia was coming to a close, we sat down and discussed where we wanted to visit next. We only had about 2 months left in Asia, since we had to be back to America in August for my sister’s birth, so we were trying to find a reasonably affordable country to live in for those few weeks. We bought bus tickets to Vietnam, but after we found out the visa fees (which were a lot), and then the rental house amounts, we had to reconsider.
And then we realized something, we were actually ready for some time in America.
So we wasted no time, and booked our plane tickets home 6 days from that thought.
Jarrett and I had a lot to think and talk about that last week in Cambodia. We LOVE traveling, like enough to sell all of our stuff, quit Jarrett’s job, and buy one-way tickets love it:) But something occured to us that month in Cambodia. A childhood in America is a pretty special thing. While we love seeing other cultures and showing the boys this amazing world, they need to grow too, in a little kid normal way. When they were getting jealous of poor little Cambodian childrens’ bikes, we felt kind of bad. They should have their own bicycle too. We can give them so much traveling, but we also have a very unique opportunity to raise children in America. Very few people in the world have that chance and most of the world wants it.
So a few days after we got back into the country Jarrett called up Bubba Gump Shrimp Co., the company he used to run a restaurant for in Maui. Lets just say they were happy to have him back. In less than 7 days, he had a job offer and was on a plane to Texas.
I have not really thought to write much about it yet because there is so much more still unfolding. They have Jarrett temporarily placed in Galveston, Texas (30 minutes from my sister, Amanda’s house!). But as early as August, Jarrett will be transferred to run another store probably in Texas, but maybe even another state.
I stayed behind in Colorado to finish visiting our friends and family here. And to work on a project. A very big project, a 34 foot long project in the form of this…Image may be NSFW.

This beautiful (to me) RV, which is in the process of getting a proper name, could possibly become a big part of our lives (like even our house while Jarrett is in limbo). But I cannot get my hopes up too much yet, as we are in the early stages of renovations to make sure it will work well enough for the plans we have for it. It has a long story behind and hopefully a long story ahead. (more on it to come:)
While we are probably going to be in America for the next few years, we are not quite ready to give up on travel. After exploring most of the regions of Thailand, we realized that we HAVE to explore every state in America! So that plan is currently underway.
Jarrett jumped right back into work and has loved how he can exercise so much more of his personality at work, than he can at home. But we still miss him, and he has been missing us even more since we are still having a ton of fun here in Colorado. The boys have struggled too, and there has been some adjustment not having him around. He was home with us every day for the last 18 months! Thankfully we will all be reunited soon.
We are so excited right now, even though we are not sure exactly what to be excited about since so much is still unknown. There is a potential RV masterpiece in the making, a great career with a great company being continued, little boys with many plans for their American childhood, a little baby creeping closer into our future, and travel plans to see all 50 states (we have to get going, that is a lot of states and a lot of gas!).
So for now I will leave it at that. We won’t know where Jarrett will be permanently placed for a few more weeks. In the meantime, the boys and I will get to visit many new and old friends (while Jarrett keeps money in the bank account-thanks honey!), and I will be working on the RV-please send me some good vibes-I will need them!Image may be NSFW.
