The RV is currently our motorhome, (future) house, and car all in one, so its kind of high priority around here. Jarrett is working his little booty off in Texas at the restaurant, and I am coughing up paint fumes here in Colorado as I work my butt off in the RV. We talk like teenagers on the phone every day (seriously, I burned him a CD, its getting sad). Man I miss him! I cannot get the motorhome done fast enough so I can high tail it to Texas and kiss my honey.
I want to show you the RV renovations as I go, so I will start at the beginning. The blue carpet, brown paneling, 80′s wallpaper, mouse nest very beginning. Oh yes, it is very scary.
our 1985 Pace Arrow by Fleetwood (34 foot), poor thing is missing a drivers side window
ahhhh, there’s a man sticking out of it! oh wait, it’s only Jarrett
A little background on this RV. My grandparents bought it 8 years ago to live in when they first moved to Colorado and were waiting for their house to be built. It only has 26,000 miles on it, and ran great the last time it was run, you know 8 years ago. It has been sitting on the land as the birthing center for every mouse within a hundred miles for the last 8 years. Every person in our family has talked about fixing it up at one time or another, and Jarrett and I are the first ones to follow through. So here we go, renovating a motorhome, which we have no clue about, but are determined to master come hell or high water.
need I comment on the furniture? I think not
look honey, we can cook teeny weenies on the engine as we drive!
Jarrett unscrewing the chairs to pull out
I was so happy that the refrigerator is almost full size
it just has to go, all of it
we always wanted to do it Lucy and Ricky Ricardo style
curtains-out, suspect mattress-out, fabric headboard-out, small goose photo-staying
just kidding, the goose picture left, little Conner helped take it down and then trash that bad boy
I even threw out all the blinds, I needed a clean slate to think straight
get out of here 80′s curtains I say, get out!
that carpet has about been the death of me, so many tacks, so much glue
because it’s always a good idea to carpet the cabinets
and the walls
pulled that sucker out
oh good lord
the only evidence that I will horror you with from the mice. There is more, much much more, but don’t worry, I will not show you
So that was Day 1. Surveying the damage, accessing the grunge, and then just diving in. It was actually pretty fun and funny. It was fun to work on a big project with Jarrett and sweat our butts off together (ok that sounds weird). Anyways, we ended the day with a fun trip to Ikea to pick out some RV furniture. I must have been feeling really brave because we left the boys for the first time, in their lives, with strangers, at the play place. Ok, I will say that again, with strangers for the first time in 7 years. It was not my idea, they were begging us to. I told them over and over again that I would not be watching them, but in the store, and they convinced me they would be fine. So I let them and then practically ran through Ikea pricing small couches and space saving items, so I could hurry back to get them. We picked them up, and they were fine, but they also said they would never do it again-hehe:) That they wanted to go with us next time, phew, I did not want to do that ever again either!
seriously, I was totally traumatized by this. Lord help me if they ever ask to go to school
