eating in Cambodia

Our first meal in Cambodia, we went to a Thai restaurant. I guess we missed Thailand more than we realized-haha. But after that we ventured out to some Cambodian food. We have really been enjoying the food here. They have a great variety, and is similar to Thailand with lots of stir frys and vegetables.

We have been watching Once Upon a Time tv series on the computer and they always have hot chocolate. Peyton wanted one so bad, so we tracked down a coffee shop in Siem Reap and got him one-he was soo happy:)

many of the restaurants and hotel will welcome you with a cold wash cloth, usually soaked in lemon or scented water. It is the perfect thing too because it is soo toasty here!

A lime mint smoothie. again, perfect for the hot weather. (ignore my extreme backpacker look, this humidity makes my hair, well, you can see for yourself-ha!)
after the boys got over the green color, they tried it and loved it too
at the Gecko Cafe in Battambang. I ordered a Cambodian dish, wanton wrappers with cream cheese and peppers inside. It was AMAZING
the next day we tried some more Cambodian food at the White Rose in Battambang. I asked the waitress to surprise me-not always the best idea-but it worked out. It was a fish/pork/egg cake with rice. Ok that sounds gross when I write it out, but it was really good:)
on the street a man making fresh sugar cane juice. He was extremely busy, there was a moped line waiting for a drink. He also stuck some lime slices in between the sugar cane when he put it in the machine.

We ordered one, it was 25 cents (1,000 riel) and tasted like a lemonade with too much sugar, not enough lemon, but still good

the boys and I took a moped ride out into the country to explore. I had heard that Battambang has good oranges, so when we saw them, we stopped and bought a bag.

green oranges

dinner on the river at The River (hehe) in Battambang

the boys were asked to take a photo with these cute Cambodian girls:) Oh the day in the life of a white child in Asia.

we played on the bridge while we waited for our food to come

I couldn’t resist the $2 fancy drink

the river was lined with people drinking, and talking after work

Peyton and Conner were using my glass to make funny faces in:)

Conner laughing at something Jarrett said:) Jarrett is a pretty funny guy and I am so thankful we get to spend so many wonderful meals with him.
