mama badges

I received a super special package in the mail the other day. It was from a sweet mama that met me through our blog, and it pretty much made my month! She sent me 5 mama badges.

I had seen them before on this site, and wanted them, but was not sure what I would do with them. But when I got them, I knew right away where they would go. On the igloo. My purse needed some pizzazz, and I wanted to display my mama badges, so it was a perfect match.Image may be NSFW.

Aren’t they so cute? Yes, that is a boob. Image may be NSFW.

I sewed on two of the badges before I realized that I wanted to remove the black tag on the purse. After I removed the rubber tag, I noticed that it left big marks. I took off the first two badges, and re-sewed them higher, so it would cover up where the tag used to be.

I sewed them with big stitches, so it would be easy to take off when I get a new purse.Image may be NSFW.

Each badge came with a little paper letting you know what it was for. I thought they were so cute and funny, and wanted to share. I think every mama needs a set.

Merit Badge for Pregnancy:

“This badge is for creating, growing, and protecting life inside your own body. For enduring strangers that rub on you, invasive doctor visits, horribly personal questions from everyone you come into contact with, and being treated like a helpless child, you are ready to wear this badge. If you have swelled, stretched, vomited, peed yourself, or watched your body transform into something”Image may be NSFW.

Merit Badge for Nursing (the boob one:):

“This badge is to commemorate the nursing relationship, whether for a week or for years. Have you tandem nursed,  nursed while pregnant, or nursed twins? Breastfeeding is hard work and not as natural as it seems. If you produce milk for another human, you get this badge (and so much more). If you nurse in public you get a special nod of admiration.”

Merit badge for Dad (the seahorse):

This badge is for the father who comes home from work, changes diapers, and then cooks dinner for his waiting family. He supports his wife and children emotionally while navigating the generational shifts in fathering with ease. If you are a dad who can catch vomit mid air, will paint kid fingernails, and happily wears the baby until you are permanently swaying you earn this badge.”

Merit badge for sleeping (or lack thereof!):

“Do you sleep with your kids part or all of the night? Wake up with a porcelain doll in your back or roll over and activate a dinosaur roar? Are you bedtime rituals so complex, a sitter needs to attend a special training seminar to get the job? For keeping your kids feeling safe and secure, you get this badge (not as good as four straight hours of sleep, but it will have to do until then)!

Merit Badge for Travel:

“Ever been stuck on the taxiway for hours with a child who is potty training, a born dancer, or a curious shrieking climber? Run out of snacks and been stuck with a snarky attendant who is no help? Walk on to a cross country flight with 3 under four years old and visibly read the lips of passengers as they moan a cuss word that sounds like stuck? Been forced to take a sleeping baby from a sling so you can go through the metal detector? For those with wanderlust and offspring, your bravery and grit are honored with this badge.”

Aren’t those so funny and cute?! I thought they were great and they really made me smile. I am sure it is a little weird that my purse has a boob on it, but they are special to me:) I glanced at the site and there are 13 different badges, they are all a lot of fun. If you want to check them out…
